Jitka Vlašánková joined the Martinů Quartet after her Prague Academy studies with Miloš Sádlo and Saša Večtomov, master courses with André Navarra, Bernard Greenhouse and Erkki Rautio and primarily half a year with William Pleeth in London. She has received prizes in many cello competitions at home as well as abroad (e.g. The Prague Spring International Competition, the Pablo Casals Competition in Budapest and others). Although the Martinů Quartet is the main focus of her work, she makes use of opportunities for solo and chamber music appearances both at concerts and in recording studios. She has partnered the violinist Josef Suk, pianist Josef Hála, clarinettist Ludmila Peterková and other artists. Jitka Vlašánková teaches at the Music Gymnasium in Prague and is regularly invited to serve on juries at international competitions.
