Biography

Clark Matthews, french horn, began his professional studies at the North Carolina School of the Arts under horn virtuoso David Jolley, continuing at the Curtis Institute of Music under Associate principal horn player of the New York Philharmonic, Jerome Ashby. Clark enjoys a varied career of performing chamber, orchestral, and solo horn music. He has performed in many of America’s renowned venues including, Carnegie Hall, Verizon Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Art Museum, Denver’s Boetcher Concert hall, and many others. A firm believer in music education, Clark performed with Colorado Symphony’s “Up Close and Musical” program for elementary schools in the Denver Metro area. Some of Clark’s most recent musical activities have included performing as principal horn of the XII Fesival Amazonas De Opera in Manaus, Brazil, performing in the 2008 Latin Grammy’s, participating as a chamber musician and soloist in the Bravo!Vail Valley music festival, and performing as a member of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra.
